Born in Sarajevo in 1980, Jasmina holds an MA from the Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, Japan and an MSc in Culture and Society from LSE. She obtained a PhD in Art and Media Theory at the University of Arts, Belgrade in 2014. Her thesis titled ‘Politics of memory in visual arts-Contemporary art from Okinawa and Bosnia and Herzegovina’ was realized under the mentorship of prof Milena Dragićević-Šešić, PhD. Jasmina’s work deals with issues of collective and individual identities, gendered violence, trans-generational transmission of trauma in the visual arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Japan (Okinawa) and Belgium. Jasmina works as an associate professor at the Art Education Department of the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Sarajevo. She was an international research fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science at Doshisha University, Faculty of Policy Studies, Kyoto (2018/2020).
